Question: Please can you explain the meditation technique
Babaji:
Please pay your attention. You have to keep your eyes closed. Concentrate your mind and sight in between eyebrows and just keep watching, by focusing the attention there. Do not repeat any mantra or any name. Do not try to imagine anything. If any thoughts or visions are coming, just allow it to happen and do not try to think what it is, good or bad. Do not open your eyes until I recite a slokam (hymn of praise). Please keep your eyes closed. I repeat, concentrate your mind and sight in between the eyebrows and just keep watching, by focusing the attention there. Do not try to imagine anything. If any thoughts or visions are coming, just keep looking and watching them. Closing the eyes and trying not to move the eyeballs and eyelids, constantly keep watching, without repeating anything. When you are doing like that, gradually, in due course of time, the mind will become more and more concentrated, instead of running here and there. Because if the mind has the job of recognizing, analyzing, and judging, when the thoughts are coming, it will be judging all the time. Why is this happening? Why not that? This, that, so many things keeps happening. So, if you learn the secret to keep quiet at the time of meditation, when you have closed the eyes, if thoughts are coming, whether they are good or bad, any visions are coming, right or wrong, just do not bother mentally. Just keep watching them, peacefully. Then the mind recedes and becomes more concentrated. That is when gradually you understand that the mind is observing itself. Mind is learning to become quiet. When the mind has become quiet, that is the time when you get a chance to observe your real self as the Immortal Soul. That is what is called the third eye.
So many terminologies have been used but, gradually, if you practice this also, you will be able to get into this thing. Steadily, neck and back needs to be kept straight. Otherwise there is no particular posture. You can sit on a chair, sit on ground. Gradually you have to raise this to 45 minutes, to one hour at least per day. That is important. I can teach you a couple of breathing exercises also, which you can do before meditation. There is no conflict. You might be aware of so many other familiar sadhanas, methods of meditation. If you have been initiated also, there is really no conflict, no need to be confused ever. So, you can practice them also, and you can practice this also, whatever appeals to you. If you practice this one, so you will be able to get into total mind control, your desires can be fulfilled. You can live in this world like a genius with the best of your mind’s concentration. Genius means technologically a person who can apply the brain to the best ability of the mind’s 100 percent concentration while doing any work. So, any work you are doing, if you concentrate there, that is needed. If the concentration is not there, the mind is wandering, then the results do not come properly. By this meditation you achieve concentration. Then you will be able to know the truth about your self, the truth about the mind, truth about peace and everything.
