Question: Can you tell us how important is it to have initiation from a Guru, from a teacher in order to progress spiritually in meditation?

It is a recommended thing because initiation itself means that the Guru takes an initiative and will motivate you to progress on the path by giving the method and all such guidance on how to proceed on the path. As I told, the Guru-disciple relationship is a recommended one though ultimately it will be the individual's choice. The Guru can always be there because on the path confusion is likely to occur. A person is likely to become casual and take things lightly. That's where the Guru's role is to inspire the student and always keep guiding on the right path. Become like a torch bearer. So that way the initiation is always helpful and it is a recommended one.
