Question: Why meditate?
Babaji:
When you practice this meditation, your mind gradually becomes unaware of this world and gains the awareness of your real existence. Just now the mind’s consciousness is totally, “This body is me.” That’s where all the human beings have their consciousness, totally that self as the physical body. Misidentification has happened. We do everything for this physical body because whatever we do in this world we do it for our selves. So, if you practice meditation, gradually the mind loses the consciousness of this world and gains the consciousness of the real Self that is the Immortal Soul. By doing this, you won’t be losing your mind. You will be a normal person in this world when you come out of the meditation. You can always apply the mind, use the brain. When you don’t want to, you can keep it quiet. That is the thing you will be achieving. Otherwise, if you cannot keep the mind quiet, even though you want to sit down peacefully, the mind would not come back peacefully. It would be wandering. So this is what you are going to achieve through meditation.
