Question: What about surrounding sounds around you - external sounds? Do You have a trick to help one deal with external sounds?
Babaji:
Initially for a beginner it is essential to find a silent place. Atmosphere will be very helpful to motivate you to go into meditation and so gradually as you progress in that practice you shall not pay attention to those sounds. You will have to practice ultimately even if there are certain sounds. But this world has become like that at all times. You may not be able to get the same atmosphere that you need. If it is possible, it is good. Otherwise you will have to practice to get used to such a surrounding. Gradually as your attention builds up, the mind will not pay attention to the sounds, or you will start thinking the sound is coming from within only. Then you will see the sound also getting evaporated.
