Question: You speak of the mind being concentrated, what does that mean?
Babaji:
The mind observes outside data and then analyzes it and judges it. It has thousands of thoughts so the mind becomes distracted rather than concentrated. When the mind is concentrated, it is focused on one thing so it can act successfully, even in the worldly activities such as study. If the mind is concentrated then you will only be aware of what Babaji is saying rather than being distracted by the candles or flowers or other people. The mind is the ‘jack of all and master of none' if it is not concentrated.
If you cannot lose your thoughts, then don't analyze them or at least stick to one thought such as ‘I must meditate'. One thought is better than many. The mind's inner layer should always be observing. It is like Swamiji always gave short talks like myself, as only one sentence needs to penetrate the mind. As a child I heard the teaching of Sri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita "If the mind loses all imaginations and thoughts, then peace comes". That teaching has stuck in my mind from long ago.
