Question: When I meditate, my mind is focused but part of my mind is like it is watching a film.
Babaji:
Practice is necessary for the mind to meditate. When you sit for meditation all sorts of funny things will be coming. You will be wondering, “When did I think and plan all these things that are coming?” You never know how much you have absorbed since childhood. Such is the trick of the mind. One has to be very careful. In the fraction of a second the mind would have thought what it is and would have observed and absorbed further imprints. That is why thought after thought, thousands and thousands of times keep on going, until the day that you realise that “I’m not doing anything” and simply allow it to happen, then the mind gets purified. Just don’t think what it is. Don’t feel guilty, don’t feel worried. Sit to meditate, allow it all to be purified. When you really forget, only then the peace descends. That is why it is God’s Grace that everyone has forgotten about his or her previous lives. Otherwise in those hundreds of lives, how many parents? How many relations? It would be so mind-boggling, remembering everything you previously underwent.
