New book on Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj & His Teachings
The remarkable life and teachings of Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj continues to transform countless lives around the world, inspiring people from all walks of life to seriously take up meditation and spiritual practices for peace and harmonious living. Born into abject poverty, He rose to the heights of spiritual achievement through Divine Grace and His own courage, tenacity and hard work, becoming the spiritual guide of millions of devotees throughout India, the United States, the United Kingdom and indeed all over the world. He shared His profound wisdom and freely initiated one and all without any discrimination into the Jangama Dhyana meditation technique. Jangama Dhyana (lit. meditation on the Eternal Self) is the technique of meditation, which He Himself had practiced to reach that highest state of Self Realization.
Named Satyaraju at birth, at the tender age of just fourteen He was ordained to sit for Tapas through a Divine manifestation of Lord Shiva as a Jangama Sage. For the next twelve years He meditated in Samadhi for an average of twenty hours a day. Things did not come easy though, for He was tested severely. The young boy faced monumental challenges in performing this feat, from the harsh elements, to grinding poverty and the ravages of cobras and scorpions. After twelve years of deep absorption He emerged as a Yogi and Sage of the highest order, the great Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj. He travelled the world over a thirty year period emphasizing the need for sadhana, spiritual practice, as the means to achieve Self-Realization. On 28th March 1994, Shri Swamiji dropped the physical body and attained the state of Mahasamadhi. Although His physical presence has gone, having merged completely with that All-Pervading Divine, Shri Swamiji continues to inspire and guide all sincere devotees through His highest teachings, which can lead us to the Supreme Silence of the Self.
Baba Shiva Rudra Balayogi Maharaj is considered by many as the living embodiment of Shri Swamiji's teachings, an undeniable example of humility and love. Ever since Babaji first set eyes on His beloved Master in 1971 and fell completely in love His life has been a continuous offering of unwavering devotion to His Guru. He spent the next twenty years in His physical service and performed vigorous sadhana under Swamiji's direct guidance. A Master is always created from a perfect disciple. At the Dehradun Ashram – the immortal scene of these two great yogis - Shri Swamiji carefully trained His disciple in the paths of meditation, devotion and service, both through his profound spiritual aphorisms and unfathomable Silence. Ordained by His Divine Guru, Shri Babaji now continues the same legacy by travelling the world and freely imparting the wisdom that He received from Shri Swamiji and through His Life of Tapas. Having Himself achieved that highest goal of Self Realization, Babaji shares His experiences and insight with all sincere sadhaks so that they too may benefit.
Recently at the request of devotees Shri Babaji has written commentaries based on such inner experiences and Teachings of His Master on the Guru Gita, a conversation between Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on the significance and qualities of the Real Guru, and also on Vivekachoodamani (Crest Jewel of Discrimination), the famous Advaitic work of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. Often over the years devotees have also asked that Babaji to write a book directly containing His experiences with Shri Swamiji and the beautiful Teachings His Master imparted to Him. Devotees around the world have also become particularly fond of the stories Babaji has narrated of Shri Swamiji containing both wisdom and humor. Those who had seen Swamiji physically have expressed how those anecdotes transported them back to those fondest of memories and those who had become inspired in recent years felt as if they too had experienced those precious moments. Since Swamiji left His physical body in 1994, many devotees have also raised various questions such as, 'Where is Swamiji now after leaving the physical body?', 'What was Swamiji's main Teachings for the humanity?', 'How did He intend for the Mission to carry on?', 'How did He work to transform lives?', 'What sort of 'miracles' did He perform?' 'How did He groom Babaji specifically?' and so on.
We are delighted to share with all of you that this year, the year of Shri Swamiji's 50th anniversary of Tapas completion, Babaji will take out time retreating into solitude to put in writing His memories and experiences with His Divine Guru Shivabalayogi for the benefit of all devotees.
May the Divine Guru Bless humanity for Peace and Harmonious living.
