Question: At times, why is it so difficult to concentrate during meditation. The mind just keeps on running around and thinks of all kinds of things. After around 5 to 10 minutes, I just give up as I think maybe today is not my day. During the day, I will have the yearning to meditate but when evening comes, I feel tired and just can't concentrate. Is this normal?
In the beginning it will be difficult because the mind has gone out of control since time immemorial. Dedication, discipline and patience are very important. Every time you sit, cleansing happens and you should not give up in the middle. Sit at least for an hour without thinking whether it is happening or not. If you get up, cleansing will not happen. When thoughts or visions come do not think what it is (do not analyse or interpret). Just watch them. Slowly it will happen.
